To start with - Many and varied in a nutshell! - I operate occasionally on amateur radio under my call sign of G1IQN, mainly on 2 and 6 metres when I have the time (read on!) I have an interest in all things relating to steam railways, full size, narrow, miniature and model. I have a small collection of 00 and N gauge models all based on the Western Region (it had to be, living in Cornwall) although my first ‘holiday’ trip to Bude was on a Southern Region train - direct to Bude from Waterloo via Exeter.
Unfortunately we no longer have a direct rail link - blame Beeching! I have a healthy respect for Motoring in all its forms, over the years I have owned and driven cars from the 1950’s to the present, the family stable now includes a Nissan Bluebird, Ford Scorpio (both automatic) Ford Mondeo TDCi Ghia X pack and a Honda 250 cc Superdream motorcycle which is under restoration. Living on the coast of North Cornwall, The family also enjoy all the usual water sports available - surfing, swimming and canoeing. Through a friend and business partner! am also developing a healthy interest in powered flight and gliding, I could be very easily tempted to take the various courses to obtain a PPL/NPL - Watch this space!, and yes I have a keen interest in aircraft, having worked for British Airways Cargo, (32 years) London, Heathrow Airport. Antiques also play a minor part in my ‘varied’ interests and hobbies as does collecting model ships. Photography in all its forms is enjoyed and used on a regular basis. My interest started with a Kodak Brownie Box camera and has now moved to digital. I have also used 8, 16 mm cine cameras and have moved on to video camera work. The family have their own hobbies which include gardening, books, music (from classical to pop), cinema - early to modern times. Computing and electronics.
As mentioned earlier - time is a precious commodity and has to be used wisely - where did I put those last five minutes?.........
